Ms. Candace's Bio
Music has always been a huge part of my life and something I love to share with others. My mother and grandmother were early adapters to music education in the public schools and I hope each day I pass down their great love of music and learning to each of my students. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Winthrop University and a Masters of Music in Vocal Pedagogy from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I have earned Orff Level 1 and Level 2 certifications, am a member of NAfME and Piedmont Orff Association, and am a co-founder of YAMS - Yoga Art Music and Stories; a summer camp program for kids ages 6 & up. My fun, lovable little family includes a dog who loves bananas, a cat who loves recliners, a baby who loves to boogie and a husband who really loves burritos.
My Philosophy
"Music is the the great connector: Music is Science, Music is language, Music is math, Music is culture. It is my job is to guide children in the exploration of music in their world, their country, and their community, so that they can make the most of the music within themselves and make valuable social and academic connections for a lifetime."
I look forward to working with everyone this school year!
